The “Dance Afrique – katika” Dance competition is a school-based project that is run by Moses Dance Agency (MDA) in partnership with Katika Dance Company and seeks to complement the school’s academic efforts by giving students a creative avenue to express themselves through dance thus, improving self-esteem, and enthusiasm levels as well as enhancing their inter-personal relationships.
This will be an interschool competition in partnership with Mpesa Foundation
Academy Dubbed Dance-2-Connect which is scheduled on the 8th of October 2022.
Part of the proceeds collected from the above event shall be used to support 3 main Charity initiatives including:-
i. Empowering students on mental and physical well-being.
ii. Creating a platform for students where they can embrace dance as a career pursuit.
iii. Using dance as a networking forum where schools can exchange ideas and sharpen their skills (benchmarking).
iv. Connecting dancers to be aware of their community and the impact they can create when they work in synergy.
v. Preparing the next generation of professional dance performers, choreographers, and teachers.
vi. Corporate and individual partnerships, developing synergy with brands that promote youth entrepreneurship.
Frequency ;- The Program will be carried out once a week for at least a one-hour session, mostly during school club days.
Timings;- Timings and days and any other expectations are agreed upon in consultation with the relevant school authorities.
Evaluation: The end product of this program is a dance production showcased at the end of the season.
1. ‘The Talent Hub’; a center comprising of a dance studio, a digital library, and an artistic centre, that aims at, empowering youth based in communities to develop talent-based entrepreneurship initiatives at a youthful age; thus turning into profit.
2. “The Julea charity program” partnership with children orphanages in to start programs to teach dance to underprivileged kids. Through this program, we give platforms to children for self-expression & skills growth.
3. “The Shoes & Groove program” Donating Dance attires and shoes to talented unprivileged children. This will create opportunities for young talented dancers to enhance their creativity; encouraging them to exploit their potential.
